We flew from Da Nang Airport to Ho Chi Minh City (also known as Saigon), which served as our home base for exploring the southern region.
Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City, (most people still call it Saigon), where history and modernity collide. This southern Vietnam city boasts a mesmerizing blend of old and new architecture. Classic buildings stand alongside glistening skyscrapers that symbolize progress and prosperity. The bustling streets mirror the city’s vibrancy, offering a glimpse into daily life and commerce. Amidst the bling-bling skyline, you’ll find the heart of Vietnam – its rich culinary heritage and resilient people.
Cu Chi Tunnels
Vietnam is wholeheartedly focused on its future now, yet during our visit to this fantastic country, we felt compelled to also pay homage to one of its wartime sites. The Cu Chi tunnels stand as a silent witness to the American War. It’s, a place where the echoes of cruelty have faded into history. The jungle surrounding the tunnels is young, because everything was destroyed, even the trees had all been bombed or burnt down.
Mekong Delta
The Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam is a mesmerizing blend of timeless landscapes and modern vitality. Waterways, lush fields, and quaint villages create a dreamy tableau. Life moves at the pace of its rivers, where traditional boats converge with lively markets. Amidst the waterways, new roads have been constructed and a new world has taken root, yet the old ferries continue to operate, as they remain more efficient for reaching many destinations.
