Chuncheon’s history dates back to the Three Kingdoms period (57 BC – 668 AD), when it was part of the Goguryeo kingdom. The city continued to be a military outpost & trade center for many centuries. After the Japanese Occupation & the Korean war, not much is left of the city. Despite the beautiful mountains & nature surrounding Chuncheon, the city is plainly ugly. So our our mission was making beautiful pictures of an ugly city.

Because it had been so hot the days before, instead of climbing the 654 meter high Samaksan mountain, we decided to go for the easy option, the cable car. It was a beautiful ride, with nice view, except for the last part, the summit, we were in the clouds, so no view.

After our mountain adventure, we visited Chuncheon National Museum to learn more about the region’s history and culture. The museum houses a diverse collection of artifacts, including pottery, paintings, and sculptures. We were particularly impressed by the exhibits showcasing the traditional crafts and customs of the local people.
