We are visiting Thailand for the third time, and once again, we chose to begin our journey in Phuket. This has become a tradition for us as it helps us overcome jetlag and ease into the local culture. Unlike a shock therapy approach, Phuket is a highly touristic destination. One notable observation, which was confirmed by locals, is the decrease in Western tourists and the increase in visitors from China, India, Turkey, and other Asian countries.

Phuket to Eco-Logic Resort

After leaving Phuket, we started heading north & explored some of the incredible national parks near the Andaman Sea. The further we got from Phuket, the more we started to have the feeling to be in Thailand. We visited visit Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Mueang National Park, which is home to the magnificent Lampi Waterfall. From there, we continued our journey to Khao Sok National Park, where we had the pleasure of staying at the extraordinary Khao Sok Tree House Resort. Although not the most modern resort, the resort offers charming bungalow accommodations nestled high up in the trees. The resort staff provided exceptional service, and the food was superb. The following day, we went canoeing, Thai style, which means that the guide peddles & you just have to sit in the boat & look around. The scenery was fantastic. Today was beach day, so we made a tour looking for the perfect beach. We drove past past Ao Koei Beach & Pra Pas Beach. Nice… But absolutely king of the beaches is Bang Ben Beach in Laem Son National Park. The park has as well enormous mangrove forests, absolutely fantastic to see. You have to look very quickly, because after 2 seconds all the mosquitos have found you. Tonight we sleep in Eco-Logic Thailand, a charity resort that supports local schools. Currently we’re surrounded by Australian teachers that spend time during their holiday to teach English to the local kids.
