“Aren’t all gardens in Japan Japanese gardens?” Nope. Japanese gardens are specially designed landscape gardens and have a long history. We went to visit the Korakuen Garden in Okayama, as many people agree one of the three most beautiful Japanese gardens.

Korakuen Garden was commissioned by Ikeda Tsunamasa, the daimyo (feudal lord) of Okayama, in 1687 and completed in 1700. Designed as a strolling garden, it was meant to showcase the serene beauty of nature while incorporating traditional Japanese aesthetics. The garden features winding paths, ponds, tea houses, and wide lawns, providing a picturesque view of Mount Okayama in the background.

The weather was perfect, autumn was in the air so the autumn colors are starting to come.
