After enjoying a wonderful month in Vietnam, it’s time to move on to Tainan, Taiwan. Fortunately, there are several direct flights each week from Saigon to Tainan, so the journey was quite straightforward. Tainan will be our home for an extended period, and we are incredibly excited about it.
Four years ago, during our travels in Taiwan, we had the opportunity to briefly visit the city. During that short time, it left a profound impression on us, and now, as memories have started to fade, we are back again for a long visit. As we touched down, our foremost quest was to secure a reliable internet connection – our primary mission. Following that, we embarked on the hunt for a place to live – our second undertaking, and lastly, we delved into the art of navigating the city with efficiency – our third pursuit in this unfolding adventure. Our phones are now linked to the world wide web, a cozy apartment awaits our occupancy, and we’ve seamlessly integrated into the ranks of YouBike – a splendid bike-sharing network here in Taiwan. Spoken language? Chinese.
The initial days were mostly about getting practical matters sorted, leaving us with limited time for touristy activities. Additionally, we were also in the process of familiarizing ourselves with the city from a practical perspective. Questions like where to buy groceries, find essentials like plates, towels, sheets, and pillows cropped up. The idea of renting a car for a day prompted us to explore rental options. And amidst all this, when we felt thirsty, we started looking for good bars to enjoy during the weekend.
